Hello!
I have an account named boyska
on forum.torproject.org. Unfortunately, I lost my password + everything related to 2FA (private key + backup codes).
What this means is that I cannot reset my password over email, because that will not only ask for a new password, but also 2FA authentication code (or backup codes).
Is there a way I will be able get back my access to that account?
I have already written a hundred times "I will do backups more often" on the blackboard, I swear!
you can only have 1 of each
... per browser!
Tails actually ships two versions of TorBrowser: the TorBrowser itself, and the Unsafe Browser. The latter is a browser which does not go through Tor. Its main use is signing into captive portals.
So, those applies to TorBrowser "proper": https://gitlab.tails.boum.org/tails/tails/-/tree/stable/config/chroot_local-includes/etc/tor-browser/profile/chrome
Both those apply to UnsafeBrowser (they are concatenated):
... sorry for the confusion!
Yes. see
TOR_SKIP_LAUNCH
we set the environment variable to 1
in tor-browser.sh
TOR_SKIP_CONTROLPORTTEST
, orextensions.torbutton.local_tor_check
, orextensions.torbutton.test_enabled
we do not set this variable with any of this methods. We set some maybe related variables for Unsafe Browser. For example, extensions.torbutton.use_nontor_proxy
. Is this ok? I see this is mentioned as "probably legacy" in the wiki.
TOR_DEFAULT_HOMEPAGE
we use browser.startup.homepage
instead.
However, there are also other settings to prevent the browser from launching a tor daemon. Do you set them as prefs?
@pierov can you help me with the name of these settings so it's easier for me to find this?
thanks for keeping us posted, richard!
