Somehow about:blank shows proper black background but not about:newtab. I have dark theme selected in addons, and latest version torbrowser 8.0.8. Ive tried putting css styles into the chrome folder at root profile directory in win 10 x64:
Programs/TorBrowser/Browser/TorBrowser/Data/Browser/profile.default/chrome
userChrome.css or userContent.css
@-moz-document url("about:newtab") {
html, body {
background: black ;
}
}
@-moz-document url("about:blank") {

How can I change the background of newtab? Ive tried all kinds of variations, with and without quotes, background-color: #000000 etc cannot change it.

Since libxul.so is in Tor browser's browser directory, I suppose that $ echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH returning nothing and ldd run on the tor executable returns "not a dynamic executable" are not significant.

I register for Trac and it refuses to let me login and claims the capcha isn't accepted (22 times). I have no idea what most of the technical terms you use are and that makes figuring anything out impossible. You REALLY need to make contact and support/bug reports a hell of a lot easier to file and find.
When I use Tor, then log out, I always use CCleaner to remove all traces. What I **always** find are files appearing in MS Edge and MS Internet Explorer and around 40 tracker files that weren't there when I cleaned it all prior to opening Tor. I assumed that Tor would block tracking files since those are just highways back to me and I most assuredly assumed that no information would be shared with Microsoft browsers. I've changed no settings in Tor after it was downloaded.
I found nothing under VERSION that's even close to what my browser returns which is 8.0.8. I love Tor and have financially supported it the last few years but my assumption about its safety has made me hesitant to use it. If tracking files are constantly placed on my system and files are being sent to Microsoft then the security that I expected doesn't exist.

So I tried to load Tor for Android, but it could not reach directories, with or without bridges, I get an error that a Firewall is blocking access to the bridges/directory servers.
Is there a version of Tor for Android that works in the UAE? Is it the phone I bought, a Nokia 6.1? Does Tor run on other Android phones?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We added the --enable-tor-browser-data-outside-app-dir option (which we currently use on macOS), to be able to store the profile in a TorBrowser-Data directory outside the bundle directory, to avoid codesigning issues on macOS. However, I think it is not currently possible to select where the TorBrowser-Data directory is located.
On the tor-packagers mailing list, Thomas Klausner suggested a patch to be able to store the profile in the HOME directory:
https://lists.torproject.org/pipermail/tor-packagers/2019-March/000060.html
However, I am not sure if the patch is enough, or if more things are needed to handle updates correctly.https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/applications/tor-browser/-/issues/29714"Save ___ as" crashes browser every time2022-02-03T19:04:48ZTrac"Save ___ as" crashes browser every timeHi there I use Tor Browser 8.0.6 and I've been having an issue since at least the past couple of versions that causes Tor Browser to crash when attempting to save files. When I log into Riot, I can see in TB's Storage Inspector that data is written to IndexedDB and Local Storage. When I close the Riot tab and reopen Riot in a new tab, I am no longer logged in. In Storage Inspector, the IndexedDB data seems to persist (even over browser restarts, as intended), but Local Storage was not kept when closing the tab and a new guest session is written.
I have reproduced this problem on Riot v0.17.8 and later, as well as Tor Browser 8.0.4 and later. It does not occur on Firefox ESR. Without persistent Local Storage, it is not possible to use the device-based E2E encryption that Matrix offers, because old messages will not decrypt properly and all communication partners have to re-verify my "devices" every time I close the tab and log back in.
IMO, Tor Browser should keep all data stored by sites that are explicitly whitelisted by the user, not just cookies and IndexedDB.
