- First of all tor is not the only thing to be safe on internet. It would be dangerous to use the following advice while being unsafe in your internet behavior, outside and inside tor, and in this case your effort would be quite vain.
- Second it is likely that being safe on internet is not enough if you are not safe away of the keyboard. So take care of yourself.
Now the instruction to stay safe on tor. At the end of this instruction we will give you some pointer to do these both important thing.

Either:
- Two very short paragraph on how to stay safe online and offline. (That would be the best, but the instruction are already quite long.)

The WikiStart page contains information about the anonymous Wiki account (cypherpunks/writecode), but inappropriately places this information underneath the "Unofficial documentation" heading. This information relates to OFFICIAL documentation (the Wiki, which is linked to from and within the official documentation heading itself...).
Promoting this information to e.g. be under the "Official documentation" heading will improve its discoverability, thereby hopefully benefiting the project more.https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/community/support/-/issues/21113Create docs for apt-transport-tor2020-06-27T13:44:46ZcypherpunksCreate docs for apt-transport-torjarugajarugahttps://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/community/support/-/issues/20833Using a VPN with Tor2020-06-27T13:44:47ZTracUsing a VPN with TorHello Tor Team!

I happen to be a mod on reddit.com/r/deepweb
Our community and also other Tor related communities on reddit are going crazy with recommending VPNs to be used with Tor. I would love some "officials" to refute/confirm a few things so i can point to here in future.
* Do you recommend using a VPN? (any good reasons?)
* Do you think a VPN would ad additional anonymity/security in opposite to just using bridges to hide their Tor usage from the ISP?
* Do you agree that it would be possible for a VPN provider to redirect traffic to a own entry node that will then log the actual tor activity?
Many thanks in advance.

System: Bootable persistence USB Kali Linux
Problem: Tor will not correctly read the Consensus Network Status Document due to time error.
Tried: dpkg-reconfigure tzdata Outcome: [WARN] Our clock is 4 hours, 45 minutes behind the time published in the consensus network status document (2016-07-08 18:00:00 UTC). Tor needs an accurate clock to work correctly. Please check your time and date settings!
Ive tried this several times and even chose timezones that were outrageous like Africa and still got the same time error (4 hours, 45 min).
Tried: Two separate computers with different hardware. Outcome: Same error no affect.
Any help would be appreciated.

Creating such a list, especially on torproject official website, can be harmful, because it reduces the cost of discovering such services to law enforcement.
The fact users are not identified are flaws in a state, and states will fix them. Those unfixed services are really rare. Creating such a public list will allow law enforcement to fix them all. All the law enforcement will have to do is to monitor such lists and enforce services` owners.
So I propose to lock the page to prevent addition of services and make an official statement about it.https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/community/support/-/issues/18697Update ListOfServicesBlockingTor and update my account level.2020-06-27T13:44:47ZTracUpdate ListOfServicesBlockingTor and update my account level.When I tried to add these sites, your trac blocked me because

-- granted, it's a sophisticated topic, and although I might not be a guru in all things, I'm not a 'newbie'.
(1) Given: "X in this article stands for, "either a VPN, SSH or proxy""
(2):
(2.1) } you -> X -> Tor
(2.2) } you -> VPN/SSH -> Tor
By (1), (2.2) is covered by (2.1), thus the presence of (2.2) makes one go, Huh, what, this is covered above! i.e. That (2.2) is the refinement of a specific case of (2.1) is not immediately apparent. I suspect part of the problem is little header formatting difference between the two - if the character sizes are different, they aren't sufficiently different that the difference is immediately apparent. Suggestion: Underline (2.1).
(3):
} you -> Tor -> x
} This is generally a really poor plan.
-- a link as to why it's a poor plan would be useful.
(4) } you -> Tor -> VPN/SSH
-- same comment as (2)
-- if (3) is bad, (4) should be just as bad, yet the descriptive text infers that the approach is 'reasonable'.
-- "You can also route VPN/SSH services through Tor."
--= This is what caused me to register to submit this ticket.
--=- Shouldn't this be 'You can also route Tor through VPN/SSH services'???
--=- Thus, confusing, and it's hard enough following the ball as it bounces through this. i.e. If it shouldn't be that, it's not apparent that it shouldn't be that - which is to say the article being clearer would be useful. If it should be as suggested ...
-- "In our experience, establishing VPN connections through Tor is chancy" but one is reading this to establish Tor -> VPN, so one questions if this pertains to what they're trying to find out about, confusion results ... and the (excellent) purpose in writing the article in the first place isn't being met.
I don't mean to say that I am reading correctly, and thus making accurate comments, however, if I'm not, it's not apparent or clear that I'm not. Perhaps refactoring the article makes sense.
(5) } general
I got to this article as it is made clear that Tor anonymizes TCP traffic. I was looking to see that all other traffic was anonymized as well. (Let alone, more traffic leaks from a machine than I can possibly track, so having a catch all seems prudent.) 'General' referring to this use case / reason for coming to consume the article would be useful. i.e. Means one has gotten to a page that addresses what they're thinking about - if this page does not deal with that use case, a link to such other as does would be useful.
(6) } Practical
I got to this article from whonix. This reference makes things circular. Something to help one break this circular reference would be useful.
Thanks for listening.

Existing documentation [1][2][3] are of course useful but very technical. What's needed is a very simple step by step page that explains to less technical folks how to run exits, the risk of running them and how to keep these nodes in good shape on the major OSes.
One approach we can take is to write one guide that explains how to run bridges/middle relays that has a section about exit relays. What would be most useful is an example torrc file for each relay type the user can just copy/paste then modify few option (ex: nickname, contact info, etc..)
