I'm using TBB on my 64-bit Linux machine, so the result was **Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0** instead of some kind of "faked" fingerprint that shows that my machine would be a Microsoft Windows computer.
I ran the same test in the previous version of TBB that I had before the update procedure gave me the 8.0 version, I didn't had the bug that my original browser fingerprint was leaked to the server I was connecting to.
I downloaded TBB 8.0 also as a fresh instance from torproject.org with _the same_ result.
This breaks anonymity because a web server knows your real system & architecture. I don't know if this is only the case for the Linux variant of the browser because I don't have access to Mac OS or Windows machines right now. I furthermore only tested the 64 bit variant.
I hope that this is not one of the new "features" that were included in version 8.0 ...

I use to monitor its performances using Atlas.
The URL I use is : https://atlas.torproject.org/#details/7E0AE5C9FC09B569DC1FE3F7647577EDEFD1C639
For about 2 weeks, Atlas seems to be down as I get an error message :
Backend error!
Atlas is unable to get a response from its backend server. This probably means that the backend server is unavailable right now. This can also happen, however, if you did not format your query correctly. Please have a look at the About page that explains what type of search queries are supported by Atlas.
What I do not understand is the following :
Error occurs when I'm using Firefox Developper Edition (up to date) or IE 11.
Those 2 browsers are using default network parameters (no proxy).
But if I'm using Firefox Standard Edition (up to date), using my Tor relay as a proxy, it's working !
It is also working when using the Tor Browser (up to date) with default network parameters (I do not use my own Tor relay as a proxy, I let Tor manage everything).
Until now I didn't notice anything wrong with my personal network, that's why I really don't understand why all my browsers do not behave the same way and why Atlas seems to be working only when using a Tor proxy.

Tor is broadly aiming to 1) prioritize mobile users and 2) make the desktop version of Tor browser and Tor browser mobile (currently orfox, but will be rebranded) consistent. The security slider allows the user to choose their security level while using tor browser. Since this is not on the mobile application yet, adding this feature accomplishes both of the aforementioned goals. While adding the feature to the mobile version, we made some changes from the desktop version to improve the interface and make the UI more mobile-appropriate. If you are curious about how and why we made the changes to the security slider you can look at the [project page](https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/UX/OrfoxSecuritySlider).
# Scope
The purpose of this test is to see if the security slider is usable. Specifically, the metrics for success are:
* Control: the user understands how to change their settings.
* Communication: the user understands what each setting does (literally understand--“to make the setting from safe to safer, I slide this button over”, not that they understand what each setting means or how it is technically implemented).
* Comprehension: the user knows how the settings will affect their browsing (again, this along the lines of “this is what I want,” “this makes this feature go away and I do/don’t like that” not that they understand how JS is a vector for exploits or even is aware of the difference between http and https websites).
* Decision: the user is able to make the decision that they want.
The ideal case is that the user will see the interface, and be able to say, something along the lines of: “when I move the slider, the javascript turns off, which will break some functionality. I don’t want that because I visit a lot of sites using Tor as my everyday browser.” | “when I toggle this, the browser goes into secure mode, which is the bare minimum of functionality to operate. It’s conservative and breaks a lot, but I’m okay with that because I want to feel safe.”
We are not testing: if the Tor browser mobile is easy to find on the app store, if people are able to install it on their phone, if it is easy to use, or if the security slider is easy to find in the menu.
# Methodology
We are running a small-scale, short, qualitative, open-ended, qualitative user test.
* Small-scale: we are testing with 5 users. Read about [when it is appropriate](https://www.nngroup.com/articles/how-many-test-users/) if you are curious.
* Short: aim for a maximum of 5 minute interview. The purpose of the interview is to get their impression of the UI (does the user take a second before they can explain how to use it? Are they confused about the settings?) rather than their understanding (can they explain why we used a horizontal slider versus a vertical one? Do they understand what turning off javascript does?). The longer the interview, the more it tends to lean towards their understanding, which is not what we want.
* Open-ended: users are free to answer the question in their own words. This is to allow the users to speak more freely and to communicate naturally. (the opposite would be closed ended, and would involve asking the user to rank/rate/label the interface, “how hard is it from 1 to 10?. This works better for larger groups, but not small groups.)
* Qualitative: we are focusing on user attitude and comprehension (do they like it, will they use it, are they able to use it). We are not concerned with user behavior (how many people use which setting, how many clicks, how many seconds) for this phase in testing.

The dev's (unknown) were supportive of fixing the issue but now there is another issue that may or may not be fixed when torbutton gets fixed, for the other addons issue encounterred.
When you delete torlauncher extension from the default pref folder, since we run a centralized, redundant cluster of tor.exe servers, tor button will not let you specify the socks & http(s) proxies. If you click the tor button uhhh button :) and select _Tor Network Settings, _nothing appears or pops up.
I haven't confirmed this is from removing tor launcher extension but, since no one else has reported it, I just assume.

I'd like to make it possible for Linux users to easily set Tor Browser as their default browser. The start-tor-browser script now passes extra arguments into firefox when you run it, so you can run:
`./start-tor-browser https://www.torproject.org/`
Tor Browser will open to https://www.torproject.org/. But if you already have a Tor Browser window open and you run:
`./start-tor-browser https://tails.boum.org/`
It throws the error:
Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.
This is because the line that runs firefox is `./Browser/firefox -no-remote --class "Tor Browser" -profile Data/Browser/profile.default "${@}"`, and -no-remote prevents any remote commands such as opening new tabs: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=650078
How come firefox is run with -no-remote? I assume there's a reason behind it. Is it useful for privacy/anonymity/data minimization? Would it be bad to patch start-tor-browser to remove -no-remote?
As long as -no-remote is there, I don't think it's possible to set Tor Browser as your default browser.

I need a portable tray solution, I'm not going to drag a bunch of external utilities along on every portable cache, and MTT has always worked just fine. Minimizing TBB to the taskbar is stupid and archaic, I need that space for other things when TBB is minimized.
I don't know if the plugin dev just needs to update (they do have menu options specific to TBB in the addon) or if TBB has broken it. Either way, it sucks.

One day (two days ago or so) TBB wouldn't appear when I ran the script, only tor/viladia would appear. Note, from the beginning TBB would usually be very slow to load, Viladia establishing itself much sooner. Timing it just now viladia takes about 15-20 seconds to load and the browser takes about 45 second to appear. (regular firefox takes a second or so)
But I gave it more then enough time for the TBB to appear, tried restarting my PC, tried multiple times. Nothing.
I downloaded a new TBB and narrowed down the problem to viladia.conf file. Using my old one which I saved, the problem returned (but with other files in data, it did not)
I have not altered TBB except to install adblockplus.
On occasion I have accidentally left my PC on overnight and it goes into sleep mode(set myself for 2 hours), and sometimes it won't pull out of sleep mode and requires a hard reset. I believe that happened on the night before it stopped working (and TBB may have been running at the time), I am not sure if it is related or not.
Here is the defective file in question.
P.S. I really wish there was a way to load the browser from the vidalia controls. That way if you accidentally close down the browser, you can load it up again without having to shut down and load up everything, and that way it is easier to open a new browser window too, rather then having to drag a tab out.
