compass should use the list of country names from the metrics portal
In the 'country' box for compass, if you type in 'tai', it suggests "Taiwan, Province of China". Whereas if you go to https://metrics.torproject.org/users.html and click on source, the name is simply Taiwan.
Where did we get our country list for compass? We should use the one from the metrics user page.
