If you run across one of these but not the other, you will never imagine that the other exists.
We should consolidate them -- my thought would be to blow away the list on the volunteer page, and instead have a tiny thing pointing people to the research page -- and maybe escalate that tiny thing to have a more prominent position on the volunteer page, so people know that volunteers doing research on Tor would be great (and that there's a separate resource devoted for them).
