User manual should explain Tor Browser features more

The user manual is excellent at describing how to use Tor Browser, but it could do with more explanation on the first page of the privacy and security features of Tor Browser, or how Tor Browser is different from other browsers.

Things we could consider include:

  • A clearer definition of fingerprinting protection
  • First-party isolation (in lay terms)
  • Disk avoidance
  • Hardening/sandboxing
  • Proxy enforcement

All this should be kept super simple and brief! But right now the description is incomplete, I would say.

Also, in the Security Slider section, we should explain why users would use it, what protections we are trying to provide, and what the tradeoffs are.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have admin enable hashed storage. More information
