Does Tor Browser use dns from the tor network itself?

Im using the tor browser bundle for linux all is working fine. However how does the tor browser handle dns requests?

I did a test on the shields up website using the DNS nameserver test and while using the tor browser about 30 different DNS servers were found. Normally when im on my standard ISP connection only the servers of my ISP are found. What does this mean?
