Tor Browser: workaround for EU GDPR blockage

A number of websites are blocking all visitors from the EU due to the new GDPR laws:

Since a significant number of Tor exit nodes are located in the EU, visiting those websites is going to get a lot harder for Tor Browser users.

The blockages are mostly in the HTML layer so they will be hard to automatically detect.

Some possible workarounds:

  • A Tor Browser menu option for users to select non-EU exit node regions
  • Improve the Tor exit node analysis to take into account per-domain blockage based on exit node location
