Tor Browser does not display correctly in VMWare Fusion on macOS (mojave)

A user reported on IRC that Tor Browser in VMWare Fusion on macOS sluggish and would only work at all if Retina displays were enabled.

It seems that this got fixed "by accident" when rewriting parts of the graphics stack. See:
