how do i know if im highjacked

Im pretty new at using tor and im not sure how safe this program is or how to protect my computer & network, I was encouraged by the soft where and instructions to set up a bridge which i did briefly, what I did not know was that my routers port forwording was set to allow vertial server settings, which from what iv read here does not sound good__http://web.belkin.com/support/kb/kb.asp?a=1448__,

Im worried that iv just left a big gaping hole for some hacker to have highjacked my network and Is now able to use my computer net identity for what ever the hell he wants.

How do you know your being high jacked how do you then get rid of it.
