Find a way to convert translated markdown files to pdf

For the English version of the user manual, I run the following command to convert the markdown to pdf:

markdown en/tsum.text | htmldoc --cont --book --footer 1 --headfootsize 8.0 --linkcolor blue --linkstyle plain --format pdf14 - > short-user-manual_en.pdf

Everything seems to fall apart when I try to run the same command on a translated (say, Spanish) markdown file. It turns out that htmldoc doesn't support UTF-8 until version 1.9, so I need to find another way of converting translated markdown files to pdf.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
