Vidalia exited abnormally Exit code: 127

I am trying to install Tor so I can try it out, but have been unsuccessful so far. My 32-bit machine runs Ubuntu 10.04. I've followed the directions for downloading and extracting the Tor Browser Bundle. When I try to run start-tor-browser, I get the error message: "Vidalia exited abnormally. Exit code: 127".

I would appreciate any help you can give so I can at least try Tor.
