Besides #6446 (closed) (end user setup guide) we should have a more detailed document that explains everything TorBirdy will change in Thunderbird (prefs and behaviour) including the reasoning behind it.
To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
