Flash proxy usability testing

The flash proxy client programs need to have use and comments by Tor developers and the wider community. Give them instructions, ask them to record their experience, and fix the issues that are reported.

This will happen after #7016 (closed) and #7283 (closed), so users will get a managed proxy client and binaries for their platform, but not a full bundle. The instructions should be basically: 1. configure port forwarding, 2. run tor with this torrc.

Some questions to ask (there are no doubt more):

  • Is configuring port forwarding insurmountable for you?
  • If it didn't work, was it at least clear what was wrong?
  • Were you able to use this as your main tor process for a day?
  • Was it ever obvious to you that you had switched to another proxy (existing circuits will be broken)?

Some questions I hope testers will ask (because we need their help to give them good answers):

  • Why is this running on so many domains (stanford.edu, bamsoftware.com)?
  • Who has access to the facilitator and websocket relays, and control over their keys?
  • How can I find out the approximate current number of proxies?

Record-keeping is important, so we may want to provide testers with a standard form to fill out (with all parts optional).

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have admin enable hashed storage. More information
