A meeting of the core Tor team, developers, volunteers and invited guests in Valencia, Spain, to discuss plans, milestones, deadlines, and other important matters.
Week at a glance
- Fri, Feb 26th afternoon and evening: Social event where we interact with each other as human beings rather than as developers or coworkers.
3:00 p.m.: Roger will lead us on a walk along the old Turia River path to explore gardens and architecture. Let’s assemble at the NH Center Hotel. The terrace on the 12th Floor (accessible via stairs from the 11th Floor) might be nice place to gather, or the main lounge — we will check both places before departing. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for the walk. Then, we will meet for dinner at 8:30 p.m., at Restaurant Canelas, Carrer de Quart, 49, 46001 València http://restaurantecanela.es/ (1.1. km from hotel and near the sunken river).
- Sat, Feb 27th 10:00 - 18:00: Gunner-style kickoff, then less structure as the day goes on: meet everybody, make plans, have meetings, do work.
- Sun, Feb 28th 10:00 - 18:00: Gunner-style breakout sessions. Planning and prioritizing and getting on the same page about things.
18:30: Horchata Ride 2.0 Noel proposes this year's ride to drink Horchata and eat Fartons to Alboraia, like in 2015. Volunteers assemble at the NH Center Hotel main lounge. We'll be back as soon (or as late) as you want.
- Mon, Feb 29th 10:00 - 18:00: Gunner-style breakout sessions. Planning and prioritizing and getting on the same page about things.
- Tue, Mar 1st 10:00 - 18:00: Unstructured hackfest (overlapping with the festival)
- Wed, Mar 2 through Sun, Mar 6: Many Tor people will be sticking around for the Internet Freedom Festival, to hack more on Tor and to interact with other projects. You could too!
The event is adjacent to the Internet Freedom Festival. They want you to register separately by February 5th, here: https://internetfreedomfestival.org/register/ if you're attending that event. Consider registering early in case it sells out!
Tor Developer Meeting, from Saturday, February 27 through Monday, February 29 will be located in the Gran Salon on NH Valencia Center:
Ricardo Micó, 1 46009 Valencia - Spain http://www.nh-hotels.com/hotel/nh-valencia-center
We have also reserved a block of hotel rooms at NH Valencia Center for these three nights (see below).
Daytime activities on March 1 - 6 will be at Las Naves, Calle de Juan Verdeguer, 20, Valencia Spain. The Internet Freedom Festival is open to the public. For Saturday through Tuesday, you will need to be on our invite list in order to get into Tor's meeting space. Please contact us early to make sure everything goes smoothly for you!
The nearby airport is VLC. Some airlines have connecting flights to Valencia, others do not. Madrid's MAD (usually known as Barajas, officially as Adolfo Suárez) is a 100-minute 30-Euro train ride RENFE away if you plan ahead. Barcelona's BCN (also known as El Prat) is similar to MAD in distance and train cost. Check if trains are available before you book flights. The nearest train station is Valencia - Cabanyal, which is 1.4km away from the venue. There is also long distance bus available at ALSA and similar companies.
The Tor Project has reserved a block of rooms at NH Valencia Center Hotel (the site of the Tor Developer meeting) for February 27 through February 29 (Feb 26 check-in), located at:
