Project Title - Improving Coverage and Transparency in Tor Metrics and Measurement

Project Period: October 1, 2017 - March 31, 2019

Project !Goals/Activities

Objective 1: Generate a technical white paper (“Tor Technical Report”) on Tor Metrics data collection, aggregation, and presentation.

  • Activity 1.1: Evaluate batch processing frameworks for CollecTor data and publish a technical white paper (“Tor Technical Report”) on Tor Metrics data collection, aggregation, and presentation.

Objective 2: Generate a specification for statistical assessment of aggregate data.

  • Activity 2.1: Write specification for assessing where Tor users are from and how they connect to Tor.
  • Activity 2.2: Write specification for assessing how many relays and bridges are online and what we know about them.
  • Activity 2.3: Write specification for assessing how much traffic the Tor network can handle and how much traffic there is.
  • Activity 2.4: Write specification for assessing how fast and reliable the Tor network is.
  • Activity 2.5: Write specification for assessing how many onion services there are and how much traffic they pull.
  • Activity 2.6: Write specification for assessing how many Tor applications, like Tor Browser, have been downloaded or updated.
