If we run an HTTPT server independently from a Tor bridge, we need to teach it how it can register itself to rdsys, so we can hand out HTTPT proxies to users. Over at tpo/anti-censorship/rdsys#4, we are brainstorming an API that allows systems like HTTPT to register themselves.
In addition to the registration mechanism, we need to teach HTTPT to forward traffic to a bridge. For now, we may want to set up a dedicated and centralised bridge, just like the one we are using in Snowflake.Sponsor 96: Rapid Expansion of Access to the Uncensored Internet through Tor in China, Hong Kong, & Tibethttps://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/anti-censorship/pluggable-transports/httpt/-/issues/3Add HTTPT client implementation to obfs4proxy2022-08-30T18:25:52ZPhilipp Winterphw@torproject.orgAdd HTTPT client implementation to obfs4proxyThis is a child issue of tpo/anti-censorship/pluggable-transports/httpt#1. Once we added Turbo Tunnel to HTTPT (see tpo/anti-censorship/pluggable-transports/httpt#2), we can turn it into a new transport of obfs4proxy, so HTTPT will be available as a pluggable transport in Tor Browser.
