How to contribute? (Can't create a MR)

I just got this Gitlab account created (thanks!) but can't find a way to create a merge request. If I try forking the repository, I get an error: "Limit reached You've reached your limit of 5 projects created. Contact your GitLab administrator. " (I don't have any projects.)

Same happens if I try to edit the file in browser through the Gitlab UI, it asks me to create a fork and I get the same error.

Some projects have a contributing.md file or something as a guide for potential new contributors. That might be helpful here as it is not obviously what to do. (I created an issue with a patch in the meantime. #40468 (closed) )

Furthermore I did not find a good place to create this issue so I just placed it here with my other issue in "Snowflake", sorry about that. If there is a better place let me know or feel free to move it.
