Bypass FIrefox-specific features from Tor Browser
Extensions
I mean such things like:
- Crash reporter
- Javascript Debugger
- GamepadAPI
- Web app Sync
- Health report
- Social API
- Firefox Devtools
Things like Devtools can be just installed by user from Mozilla's addon repo. Spellcheck and pdf.js can be kept, I think.
Why:
Features like Health report or Crash reporter are Mozilla services and are unnecessary in Tor Browser.
I agree that Tor Browser needs help pages, but redirect to Mozilla's site may be confusing for many users and even suggest that is Mozilla is officially associated with it.
See how it was done in Firefox Light and its news entry.
About box
Our Tor Browser needs its own about box or about page. This dialog in present shape should be rewritten, has multiple issues:
- Contains official Firefox logo, which is very confusing and probably violates the Mozilla Trademark Policy
- Tor Project label links to mozilla.org!
- Other links should be corrected as well as above
Solution
I think we can just make a custom build with removed things and modified about box.
Hope you'll agree with me, thanks!
