Review Search Suggestions

I noticed firefox added "rich search suggestions", which I think includes images and descriptions. See bugzilla bug 1867375 where they enabled it, although I couldn't find a meta bug or much discussion of the feature on bugzilla.

I don't think it makes much difference. But it made me wonder how search suggestions already work in Tor Browser:

  1. What circuit do the providers get queried over? Is it the catch-all circuit?
  2. Will this leak the user's url bar activity to the provider, in a way they can track?
  3. We still show the "Search Suggestions" preferences in the UI, without any description of what enabling this would mean for a tor browser user.

Do we want to lock down the search suggestions entirely and hide the UI?
