New tab appears and then immediately disappears without user interaction

A forum user has reported the following unexpected behavior when first opening Tor Browser and clicking "Connect". I have observed the same behavior on my laptop with 14.5.1. More info is available in the OP's forum report:

Reproduction steps

With a clean install of Tor Browser open the browser
Click the "Connect" button to connect to the tor network

Expected behaviour

No new tabs should be opened without the user opening one

Actual behaviour

Within 10-30 seconds a new tab is observed opening and immediately closing

Operating System: Linux
Operating System Version: LMDE 6 faye (based on Debian bookworm)

Browser UI language

Defaulted to system lang. - en-US

Have you modified any of the settings in `about:preferences` or `about:config`?

Do you have any extra extensions installed?

Troubleshooting

Bug does occur in a fresh installation

Appears to be a new bug, as the same behavior is not observed in 14.5

N/A as Alpha is currently older than stable & see above

Does this bug occur in Firefox ESR (Desktop only)?

Unknown, not tested

Does this bug occur in Firefox Rapid Release?
