Icon created by --register-app is non-functional

🐞 Bug Report

Reproduction steps

  1. On a supported Chromebook, enable the Linux (Crostini) environment.
  2. Download the latest official Tor Browser for Linux (.tar.xz package).
  3. Extract the archive in the user's home directory.
  4. Navigate into the tor-browser directory in the terminal.
  5. Run the command ./start-tor-browser.desktop --register-app.

Expected behaviour

  • Clicking the icon created by --register-app in the ChromeOS launcher should successfully start Tor Browser.

Actual behaviour

  • An icon for "Tor Browser" correctly appears in the ChromeOS app launcher.
  • However, clicking this icon does nothing. No process appears to start, and no UI feedback is given (no loading spinner).
  • The application can be started successfully by running ./start-tor-browser.desktop directly from the terminal.
