Circuit display breaks when requesting new circuit in "-.example.com"

From tor-browser#40155 (closed), some user used this as a workaround for selecting a new circuit for a site that was returning an empty response. But, after doing this the circuit display is broken (it disappears from the UI). To reproduce:

  1. Visit some website e.g. https://www.duckduckgo.com

  2. In the same tab, visit https://-.duckduckgo.com

  3. The circuit UI is displayed correctly, but after selecting "New circuit for this site" it breaks.

It's a corner case, but I think we could handle this so that the UI doesn't break.

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have admin enable hashed storage. More information
