Adopt a versioning convention for the open beta

Maybe this is obvious to others – however should we decide on a versioning convention for the open beta?

At present, pre-alpha 9 is versioned as 0.9.0. Now that we’re transitioning to open beta, should the first beta release be:

• 0.10.0, or:
• 1.0.0-beta, for example.

The former would make more sense as we don’t have plans for a stable release yet, however the latter would be more consistent with future versioning when beta and stable releases need to coexist.

This will help inform the next two milestones, which I think we should start planning for soon.
