App icons are the incorrect size

Both the full and monochromatic icons appear to be slightly larger than expected on my Pixel 4a, causing the side of the foreground icon to clash with the edge of the masking shape:

Instead, there should be a safe zone (i.e. a gap) between the edge of the icon and the shape, as seen in the Android app icons templates here:

So I'm assuming either:

• The templates provided by Google are incorrect, and we need to add additional white space around the foreground icon.
• Has the icon perhaps been cropped somehow in Android Studio (or whatever platform is used to upload it)?
