oniux not working with appimage

trying to run an Appimage inside oniux yields this error:

Error: No suitable fusermount binary found on the $PATH Error: $FUSERMOUNT_PROG not set

fusermount is a setuid program that must be owned by root, the problem could be that it seems to be owned by 65534, or could be related to setuid
