MapAddress to Onion

Hello, I am trying to use MapAddress in torrc to map a clearnet domain to an onion service. I am having some issues. Is this correct?

MapAddress example.tld examplehiddenservice.onion
MapAddress *.example.tld examplehiddenservice.onion

I have it also forwarding port 443 and the other ports typically used for clearnet services. I'm working off the assumption that the host request header is preserved, as in that whatever is listening on localhost of the server will get a request for "example.tld" or "www.example.tld" instead of "examplehiddenservice.onion". Sorry if I completely misunderstood how it works, I could not find much documentation.
