check.torproject.org does not link to its own source code, data sources, etc.
A user on #tor-dev
asked
Hello, Could somebody help me to remove IP [redacted] from https://check.torproject.org/torbulkexitlist due to no service avaliable there anymore. Thanks
I wanted to direct the user to somewhere appropriate. Since I didn't know what else to do I visited the URL myself, and when that gave me a text file download, URL-hacked to https://check.torproject.org/. But that was a dead end; none of the onward links looked helpful. (I briefly looked at the FAQ but it didn't seem to have anything relevant.) I eventually found this repo, which I'm not sure is the right one, by randomly browsing through the gitlab. (If this isn't the right place for this ticket please would you help move it to the right place.)
IMO the page https://check.torproject.org/ should contain a footer containing:
- A link to the source code of the service that generates it
- Information about where the data it is using comes from
- Information about how to report an operational problem
