Status update for network measurements
I'm part of a research group running some Tor measurements over the next month. We plan to start next week (week of May 31) and Roger/Georg/Tariq recommended a notice on status.torproject.org. We have Tor Research Safety Board approval.
My proposed post follows the issue body. Some questions:
- There's no obvious "system" for "Tor relays"; is an empty "affected" block appropriate?
- Would you be able to add this post at the appropriate date?
- I can give you say, 24hr notice during the week
- Date should be updated
- If it's easier, I can open a patch or PR at that time (let me know where/to which system I should send it)
--- title: Tor network latency measurements date: 2021-05-26 13:00:00 resolved: false # Possible severity levels: down, disrupted, notice severity: notice affected: section: issue --- We are running wide-scale measurements of latencies between relays on the Tor network for an estimated 1-2 months. The load will be negligible. No action is needed unless you operate a relay and would like to opt-out. Contact: shortor AT csail.mit.edu for opt-out (include your relay fingerprint) or questions.
