In https://support.torproject.org/tbb/tbb-9/ we say it is not a good idea to use another browser, because it leaves you vulnerable without the protections of Tor Browser.
We could explain more what are those protections, specially with links etc, so it becomes more clear to the user.

In a sense it is overkill ("too long didn't read"), but also sending users to that page serves the purpose of showing them that it is more complicated than they think, and if they want to use a different browser than Tor Browser then they are going to need to learn a lot of things before they can do it safely.
It is an external link, and exactly the sort of thing that we will notice in four years has become out of date and a bad thing to link to, but it could be a worthwhile choice even so.
