Sponsor 9 - Phase 4 - Usability and Community Intervention on Support for Democracy and Human Rights
Phase 4 of Sponsor 9's project
Summary - implement an intervention in support of activists and others fighting for their rights under repressive and unstable regimes. This intervention will specifically target organizers on the ground in Colombia, Kenya, and Uganda and provide training on how to use the Tor Network through desktop and mobile devices in order to communicate anonymously and securely.
Goals
-
Prioritize use cases of Tor that our partners have within COVID-19 pandemic context. We will focus on two main areas: first, training and documentation for Tor use cases related to domestic violence threats and reproductive rights. Second, training and documentation for use cases on bypassing government censorship related to COVID-19 information.
-
Ensure our partners have access to the necessary infrastructure for virtual trainings, including internet connectivity.
-
Continue to work with our partners to conduct usability tests so we can improve our products (Tor Browser for desktop and Android).
