TorBrowser 8.5.3 to 8.5.5 Linux Version freezes on any attempt to download any file

Latest TorBrowser 8.5.5 for Linux back to at least 8.5.3 severely freezes to the point the TorBrowser window cannot be even force closed, on any attempt to save any file from the web.

CentOS 6 if this matters, so pre-gnome3.
