Nick, I'm not sure if this ticket should go in 0.4.3 or 0.4.4.

It would be nice to check our python 3 syntax in 0.4.3.

I'd prefer to do this in 0.4.4; I'm worried about the case in particular where we have a mostly unused script that isn't python-3-compatible, and we introduce bugs fixing it in 0.4.3.
