Firefox configuration modification
There are a few modifications to the default Firefox configuration settings that yield large improvements in Firefox's speed. The Tor website mentions some. One that deserves special mention by the Tor Project is "content.switch.threshold" The default value is ridiculously high at 750,000. I would recommend 250,000 or lower, depending on the speed of the internet connection and Tor. This setting has to be created and requires the modification of two other settings. More details are at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Content.switch.threshold
The FasterFox Lite addon allows the modification of this setting but doesn't give it the prominence it deserves.
