Massive Tab Spam of the Connection Page
As of version 10.5, if you use the Tor browser off of the Tor network and you close the last tab showing the connection page; it spam opens a massive amount of tabs to that connection page. I tried to measure how many tabs it opens but it is not consistent or the pattern is not obvious. I have see as few as three to greater then twenty tabs opened at once.
I wonder if the bug behind this is also causing this: #40510 (closed)
edit: An update. Problem still exist in version 10.5.2 Is there any additional information I could provide to help debug this problem?

Can you describe how you configured the browser so it doesn't use the network, so we can replicate and investigate?

This line of code is in "start-tor-browser" file.

While the problem still exist in 10.5.5, I found a way to prevent the problem from occurring. If you go into about:config and change:
extensions.torbutton.test_enabled = false
The problem will no longer occur. This change was not needed in the earlier versions of Tor Browser before this problem started. It would simply fail the test but never open new tabs. I hope this fix can give an idea of what caused it to break. Something started in 10.5 to make this change needed. I suspect the code change is related to Tor test.
