Should we add the issue number to commit messages?
Proposal
I was looking at a file earlier (.gitmodules
) and was wondering which issue it solved and if the issue contained the idea for a monorepo.
Unfortunately I could not find out from the commit message which issue the commit solves.
So my suggestion is that we agree on a commit style and append the issue number to commit messages to be able to get faster to the problem/issue/context.
Example: #317 Add commit message scheme to CONTRIBUTING.md
What I also saw right away is that we all write commit messages differently.
The suggestion would also implicit apply a standard how we write commit messages.
We can save the commit message standard/scheme inside the CONTRIBUTING.md
file.
