Hi @neel, thanks for the MR and sorry for the late reply.

I'm working on a larger refactoring around this area (needed for #1617 (closed)) so the code here is likely going to change quite a bit. I suggest we revisit these TODOs at a later time, after the dust from that refactoring settles.
