gitlab-02 has accumulated poor email reputation
Gaba told me about a user who tried to make a gitlab account, and their confirmation email is failing to arrive, with this postfix log:
Sep 1 18:52:47 gitlab-02/gitlab-02 postfix/smtp[1426431]: 285FF181234: to=<redacted@mit.edu>, relay=mit-edu.mail.protection.outlook.com[104.47.58.138]:25, delay=0.97, delays=0.05/0.01/0.8/0.11, dsn=5.7.606, status=bounced (host mit-edu.mail.protection.outlook.com[104.47.58.138] said: 550 5.7.606 Access denied, banned sending IP [116.202.120.180]. It looks like gitlab-02 is trying to send mail directly, and its IP address has ended up on bad lists.
Should it be trying to route its outgoing mails via eugeni?
Or, should we be getting @gitlab.torproject.org its own dkim/spf/etc records?
Or, should we be trying to load up each url and beg for forgiveness one at a time?
