We previously used FILENAME_PRIVATE identifiers mostly for identifiers exposed only to the unit tests... but also for identifiers exposed to the benchmarker, and sometimes for identifiers exposed to a similar module, and occasionally for no really good reason at all. Now, we use FILENAME_PRIVATE identifiers for identifiers shared by Tor and the unit tests. They should be defined static when we aren't building the unit test, and globally visible otherwise. (The STATIC macro will keep us honest here.) For identifiers used only by the unit tests and never by Tor at all, on the other hand, we wrap them in #ifdef TOR_UNIT_TESTS. This is not the motivating use case for the split test/non-test build system; it's just a test example to see how it works, and to take a chance to clean up the code a little.

It was previously --Test in the help output and --test-commandline in the getopt call. The man page already had --test. (Originally by David, who resolved the tie in favor of "--test"; I chose --test-commandline" instead so that nothing that depended on it could break. -Nick)

This isn't going to be the last of these issues, but we might as well take the fixes as we find them. Patch from Gisle Vanem, fixes bug 7280.

Change nesting from [(]) to [()]. Formerly it made it look to me at first glance that "internal port" was optional. [Trivial change; fixes #7767 --nickm]

This is meant to avoid conflict with the built-in log() function in math.h. It resolves ticket 7599. First reported by dhill. This was generated with the following perl script: #!/usr/bin/perl -w -i -p s/\blog\(LOG_(ERR|WARN|NOTICE|INFO|DEBUG)\s*,\s*/log_\L$1\(/g; s/\blog\(/tor_log\(/g;

Apparently some compilers like to eliminate memset() operations on data that's about to go out-of-scope. I've gone with the safest possible replacement, which might be a bit slow. I don't think this is critical path in any way that will affect performance, but if it is, we can work on that in 0.2.4. Fixes bug 7352.

When configuring tor without upnp support, ie ./configure --disable-upnp, tor-fw-helper fails to link with undefined references to `ceil' and `log'. This if fixed by linking to libm. X-Gentoo-Bug: 435040 X-Gentoo-Bug-URL: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435040 Reported-by:

For everything we declare that starts with _, make it end with _ instead. This is a machine-generated patch. To make it, start by getting the list of reserved identifiers using: git ls-tree -r --name-only HEAD | grep '\.[ch]$' | \ xargs ctags --c-kinds=defglmpstuvx -o - | grep '^_' | \ cut -f 1 | sort| uniq You might need gnu ctags. Then pipe the output through this script: ============================== use strict; BEGIN { print "#!/usr/bin/perl -w -i -p\n\n"; } chomp; next if ( /^__attribute__/ or /^__func__/ or /^_FILE_OFFSET_BITS/ or /^_FORTIFY_SOURCE/ or /^_GNU_SOURCE/ or /^_WIN32/ or /^_DARWIN_UNLIMITED/ or /^_FILE_OFFSET_BITS/ or /^_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE/ or /^_LFS64_LARGEFILE/ or /^__cdecl/ or /^__attribute__/ or /^__func__/ or /^_WIN32_WINNT/); my $ident = $_; my $better = $ident; $better =~ s/^_//; $better = "${better}_"; print "s/(?<![A-Za-z0-9_])$ident(?![A-Za-z0-9_])/$better/g;\n"; ============================== Then run the resulting script on all the files you want to change. In C, we technically aren't supposed to define our own things that start with an underscore. This is a purely machine-generated commit. Make it port-purpose-agnostic; that is it should treat each port as equal, and not expect to get a DirPort and an ORPort.

This gives us a few benefits: 1) make -j clean all this will start working, as it should. It currently doesn't. 2) increased parallel build recursive make will max out at number of files in a directory, non-recursive make doesn't have such a limitation 3) Removal of duplicate information in make files, less error prone I've also slightly updated how we call AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE, as the way that was used was not only deprecated but will be *removed* in the next major automake release (1.13).... so probably best that we can continue to bulid tor without requiring old automake. (see http://www.gnu.org/software/automake/manual/html_node/Public-Macros.html ) For more reasons why, see resources such as: http://miller.emu.id.au/pmiller/books/rmch/

(Note: It makes sense to use tor-gencert on Windows for testing purposes only. If you are a directory authority operator, and you are contemplating running tor-gencert on a Windows box in an actual production environment, you are probably making a mistake.)

The bump from miniupnpc-1.5 to 1.6 changes the definition of two functions used by tor-fw-helper-upnp.c, upnpDiscover() and UPNP_AddPortMapping(). This patch addresses this and adds a check in configure.in for backwards compatibility. Thanks to Nickolay Kolchin-Semyonov for some hints.
