Do we have copy, assets, or design for what we want to do with this? Or is it just taking the tor one, generalizing it to some variables and applying here?
oh right. That seems to be the activity-stream page (redirected from about:home and about:newtab). I don't think we'll be using that for either browser.
Yeah, I've called homepage because the preference to change it is browser.startup.homepage, and it's called Homepage in the settings.
But I'm sure it has its specific name .
Aren't we going to replace the firefox assets into browser/branding anyway? So why is it an issue if they are also used in the "About" dialog?
Yes, we're replacing the assets, but only the actually needed ones.
We don't replace these ones in Tor Browser, so I thought we could avoid replacing them also in Mullvad Browser.
Thus, I haven't asked the designers to create these assets.
An issue here is the font: we'll need either to ask the sponsor if they have some preference, or just to create some assets now, to release something asap, and then replace when we get the actual preference.
I don't know if we'll have metrics problems (i.e., use a smaller font to fit the width?), but I don't believe so.
Another issue are the texts in the screenshot below.
But I guess that we can keep the ones that are already there for January, as long as we customize the branding, and provide a customized about dialog in the next version.
I've already replaced the logo, but I don't have a replacement for the wording, yet.
For now, let's keep it simple.
Under the browser version (which can be a copy of what you have in Tor Browser), add the following:
Mullvad Browser is a privacy-focused web browser developed in collaboration between [Mullvad VPN](https://mullvad.net) and the [Tor Project](https://www.torproject.org). It’s produced to minimize tracking and fingerprinting.[Read more](https://mullvad.net/browser)Help & feedback: [support@mullvad.net](mailto:support@mullvad.net)
Gotcha! We've customized it in the past for Tor Browser I believe, and it eventually broke after a Firefox update. So if @ruihildt's happy with the default background(s) I'd leave it as-is :)
@donuts Default background is fine for now, though I have a suspicion we might prefer to use the blue (or a similar gradient as the logo background), as it's more on brand.
What's new is a redirect to the online changelog, so I think you can just remove it for now, as I have no idea where that will be placed in the future.
Moreover, I thought we agreed on following the Tor Browser release numbering. If it's not present in test release, it's ok as long as it's in the first release.

We have a patch at Tor Browser level that defines a --with-tor-browser-version compile flag.
We still haven't implemented one, but it's something we can add, and later apply the same overrides we have here and there.
Let me open a new issue about that, if we don't have one already.
