I like all of these changes except for the Bridgemoji. I think it's
better to direct users to the hexadecimal fingerprint. There's no
place that needs typing in an emoji, and emoji keyboards are only on
mobile OS. I can't search by emoji or utilize emoji in any way except
to visually compare it to another set of emoji.
Besides having low value, four of them is too many. I might remember
two emoji, but I'll never care to remember four of them. If you choose
to keep Bridgemoji, then try to condense it into one or two emoji.
Look for alternative methods of representation as well such as those
made for user icons. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identicon https://robohash.org/
I think it's better to direct users toward the hexadecimal fingerprint
and for bridges, the hashed fingerprint.
I don't know what the use case of this new feature is,
Is the idea when you give someone the address to check it is the right one?
I imagine most users don't care which bridge they use just they can connect to the wider tor network, which a quick search on the tor browser works fine (This is how I test my bridges when I set them up)
If it is meant as an alternative to bridge line, there is 100%, not enough entropy in 4 emojis to cover an IP, fingerprint and certificate. Just look at how dense QR codes are for the bridges.
I like the idea but struggling to see the use case
Let's add a link to the tbmanual entry directly after the emoji (in the bridge card's expanded state). I think it would be worth iterating on the manual copy too, maybe with a couple of illustrations to demonstrate their purpose.
@donuts so right now the "Learn More" at the bottom of the card also goes to about:manual#bridges_bridge-moji. Do you want to keep that one too? or did you have another manual page in mind for the "What are these" to link to?
